Hilgraeve and Digital Signature Trust Partner to Offer TrustID® CertainSend
Partnership provides E-Sign compliant signing and delivery solutionfor TrustID program participants
Monroe, MI, April 12, 2001 -- Hilgraeve, Inc., a long-time leader in data communications software, and Digital Signature Trust Co. (DST), an affiliate of the Zions Bancorporation (NASDAQ: ZION) and one of the world’s premier providers of online identification solutions for secure communications, today announced a new product called TrustID® CertainSendSM . The new product, a hybrid of Hilgraeve’s and Digital Signature Trust’s capabilities, provides an “E-Sign compliant” end-to-end document signing and delivery solution.
By combining TrustID digital certificates with Hilgraeve’s HyperSend™ product, the two companies provide a document delivery solution that allows healthcare providers to securely sign, send and receive legally binding contracts, and other documents. By using their existing e-mail addresses from any computer with Internet access, healthcare professionals are able to sign the actual documents in any format, such as Word or Excel, and are able to verify the signature on an ongoing basis. The secure online transmission of healthcare data is paramount in today’s environment with HIPAA compliance requirements looming on the horizon.
"Secure messaging is a vital and exploding service,” says Richard Stiennon, research director of network security at the Gartner Group. “The technology has been around for eons but only recently have services become available to make what can be an unmanageable task easy.”
HyperSend is a software only system that establishes a secure, encrypted Internet channel. TrustID certificates authenticate and guarantee the identity of individuals and healthcare organizations in electronic transactions. These are two critical factors in complying with HIPAA communication regulations.
“Legacy digital data transfer technologies like e-mail will never be able to meet HIPAA compliance because they are not secure enough or robust enough to transmit highly confidential, large healthcare documents or files, and physical delivery can be expensive slow and insecure,” says Matt Gray, CEO of Hilgraeve. “This partnership bridges an e-commerce and security void that have been created by vulnerable e-mail services.”
TrustID CertainSend provides healthcare organizations with a tool to leverage the power of the Internet by enabling those who send and receive data the same level of confidence in an online relationship as when meeting in person.
“TrustID CertainSend creates a practical application that anyone online can use to conduct e-business,” says Scott Lowry, president and CEO of DST.
The main premise behind the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce law (E-Sign Law) is to ensure that electronic contracts are legally binding. Healthcare organizations are now able to contract with others online to buy and sell products, and electronic commerce can be conducted with the same confidence online, as it is offline.
