IBM Selects Hilgraeve, Inc. for Partner Program
Partnership will provide secure Internet delivery service for IBM healthcare clients

Monroe, MI, March 13, 2001 -- Hilgraeve, Inc., a long-time leader in data communications software, announced today it has been selected to join the IBM Business Partner Program. The partnership will make Hilgraeve’s secure Internet delivery service, called HyperSend, available to healthcare users of IBM equipment. HyperSend is the first secure communication tool to be selected by IBM’s healthcare group. The secure online transmission of patient data is paramount in today’s healthcare environment with HIPAA compliance requirements looming on the horizon.

HyperSend is a Web-based system that enables Internet users to exchange sensitive information securely with anyone in the world, through a web browser. HyperSend also features powerful capabilities that give healthcare organizations the ability to exchange patient data automatically – even among unattended computers. In addition, the system’s integrated workflow management tools save time and reduce costs. HyperSend requires virtually no training, doesn’t require maintenance by an IT staff, and can be quickly implemented.

“This partnership fits ideally into IBM’s Outsourcing strategy of providing its clients with non-mission critical, but highly complex and easy to deploy applications. HyperSend’s Linux-based model, ease of use, fast deployment and rapid integration into mission critical applications fit the IBM strategy perfectly,” says David Rousculp, IBM Healthcare Business Partner Executive.

“The impending HIPAA regulations are very unsettling to many healthcare executives and for good reasons,” said Matt Gray, president and CEO of Hilgraeve. “Healthcare managers cannot be certain about the specific impact of the regulations on their organizations. Regardless of what the final regulations turn out to be, HyperSend provides healthcare organizations with a broad, easy-to-implement, HIPAA-ready solution that lets them exchange patient data through the Internet today, safely, securely and economically,” Mr. Gray added.

HyperSend secure delivery service was designed to overcome the inadequacy and risk of using e-mail to exchange large amounts of patient data through the Internet. Legacy digital data transfer technologies are not secure enough or robust enough to transmit large, highly confidential patient documents or files. HyperSend software provides encryption, authentication via passwords and digital certificates, and an audit trail to ensure complete security of communications.
