Hilgraeve's HyperSend Solves Need
for Secure Internet Delivery
A Free Web-Based Service for Businesses
and Individuals
Monroe, Mich., July 30, 2000 - Hilgraeve, Inc., a
long-time leader in PC data communications software, today introduced HyperSend, the first
free, secure Internet delivery service that poses no file-size restrictions. HyperSend is
more secure, reliable and trackable than email, and is faster and more cost-effective than
overnight delivery.
HyperSend is a web-based product resulting from
Hilgraeves 18 years of experience developing award-winning communications software,
including HyperTerminal, DropChute and HyperACCESS. HyperTerminal has been included in
more than 50 million copies of Microsoft Windows since the launch of Windows
95.
Users can send up to 100 messages free each month via
HyperSend. Individuals may set up free accounts at HyperSend.com and send files and
documents to anyone who has an email address and Web access. Recipients of HyperSend
deliveries may access their files by signing up for a free account online.
HyperSend excels at instantly sending highly confidential
and/or large documents or files, anywhere in the world. It is an ideal solution for
business sectors requiring absolute privacy, accuracy, and dependability, such as
healthcare, financial services, engineers, legal and professional services. Details on
corporate pricing of HyperSend are available from Hilgraeve.
"We created HyperSend to fill a serious void in the
secure delivery market," said Hilgraeve President Matthew Gray. "Legacy digital
data transfer technologies like email are not secure enough or robust enough to transmit
highly confidential, large documents or files. Physical delivery is expensive, slow and
insecure. Neither allows for workforce automation. HyperSend will save companies time and
money by solving those problems."
HyperSend helps businesses save money by replacing more
costly legacy technology and by enabling workforce automation.
"With HyperSend, if a financial analyst in London, for
example, needs to send a confidential 10MB database to her boss in Cleveland, she can do
that securely in a flash," said HyperSend Product Manager Bob Crosley.
"Or data can be collected automatically from hundreds of locations around the world,
and delivered to a companys headquarters . . .without anyone lifting a finger."
Because HyperSend is Internet-based, companies avoid the costs associated with purchasing
and distributing media such as digital storage tapes or using a physical package delivery
service.
Workforce automation is a key feature of HyperSend that
saves labor normally required for manual control of data distribution. Users can instruct
HyperSend to distribute specific data files to a defined set of recipients according to a
pre-determined schedule.
"We encourage our customers to use secure data
transfer methods. HyperSend is the most efficient means of secure data transfer weve
ever seen. It will reduce a weeklong process to less than one day. And it will allow our
customers to focus on results rather than administration of data," said SWBC Senior
Vice President of Information Technology Rod Troutman. As the worlds leading
provider of forced-placement insurance, SWBC frequently distributes large amounts of
confidential financial data to locations throughout the world. "Were using
HyperSend to replace costlier, slower technology such as digital tapes. HyperSend is more
cost efficient and allows us to save labor by using HyperSend for hands-free data
transfer."
Hilgraeve also wanted to create a product that would
benefit the mobile workforce. Long download times, lost data and clogged up email are
problems frequently faced by mobile workers dealing with large email attachments. To solve
this problem, HyperSend allows interruptible downloads and works in the background while
the users computer is running other applications.
"If a person is in the middle of a download and their
modem connection goes down, HyperSend will continue where it left off when the connection
is re-established," said Gray. HyperSend doesnt just make downloading
easier, it improves efficiency for the mobile worker."
HyperSends technological core is the HyperSend Agent,
a thin client that can be downloaded free from the HyperSend website. The HyperSend Agent
allows users to exchange files directly with one another through the HyperSend servers
bypassing email servers which incur security risks and limit attachment size.
HyperSend utilizes 128-bit secure sockets layer (SSL)
technology, ensuring that data is always encrypted as it travels across the Internet. In
effect, HyperSends encryption technology can establish a virtual private network
among users throughout the world. For increased security, senders can choose to have their
data password-protected and encrypted until it is opened by the intended recipient.
Complete trackability is a key feature of HyperSend communication, allowing a sender to
verify the precise time a message was received. HyperSend is free for individual users and
offers businesses advanced capabilities for mission-critical information exchange at a
fraction of the cost of traditional systems.
